They were passed mouth to ear, generation to generation, across centuries of migration, war, uprooting, and survival — through the Greek islands, the Cypriot crossroads, the Bulgarian mountains, the Roma gypsy paths, the Macedonian plains, the Belarusian forests, the Turkish coastlines and the ancient shores of Minor Asia.

They crossed the same seas that Alexander the Great once crossed — from the Mediterranean to the Bosphorus, from the Black Sea to the Caspian — and somehow, impossibly, they are still here.

Voices of the Ancient Sea brings these orally transmitted songs — carried through bloodshed and displacement, shaped by countless unnamed voices across the aeons — alive in Ubud, with soaring harmonies, frame drums, and live instrumentation by special guest musicians.

Led by Marlia Cœur — vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and choir maestro — the creative force behind Acropolis Secrets concert and a series of polyphonic grand vocal-instrument ensemble productions with up to 22 musicians on one stage. Voices of the Ancient Sea is the next chapter.
