Ubud Temple Run - Indonesia Independence Day
Ubud Temple Run, organized by Ubud Story Walks and supported by FAR Ubud Run Club
This edition coincides with August 17, Indonesian Independence Day, when the streets of Ubud are decorated with flags and ornaments for the celebration, making the route look even more special than usual.
7 km run through the temples, landmarks, and village spaces that shape daily life in Ubud.
The route connects six sacred sites: Pura Desa, Pura Puseh, Pura Dalem, Pura Melanting, Pura Dugul, and Bale Timbang, at a relaxed, conversational pace (approximately 7–7:30 min/km). At each stop, guides from Ubud Story Walks share the meaning, history, and function behind the place: Balinese spatial concepts, village structure, subak culture, and the relationship between spirituality and everyday life.
Most runners pass these temples every week. But have no idea what they are running next to.
The format is a friendly run with storytelling stops: you run between temples, pause, listen, then move on.
Easy enough to talk, comfortable enough to run, present enough to learn.
